What We Fix for Eyewear Owners in Portland

Between Portland's rainy, humid climate, a daily bike-commuting culture that puts frames through constant motion, and life across the metro's many neighborhoods, eyeglass frames across Portland take a real beating. Here is what we repair most often for our clients on both everyday prescription glasses and designer sunglasses:

Frame hinge repair — Realigning and fusing loose, broken, or sheared spring mechanisms with microscopic precision tooling
Glasses temple repair — Fixing snapped, bent, or completely detached arms on metal, plastic, and rimless frames
Frame welding repair — Using gas-shielded micro-laser welding to permanently bond metal, wire, and specialty alloy frames that standard opticians across the area can't perform in-shop
Frame straightening — Correcting bent or warped frames caused by drops, pressure, or being sat on, restoring proper alignment and fit
Frame bridge repair — Fusing the most frequent break point cleanly right over the nose on plastic, metal, and wire-rimmed frames, delivering the precise frame bridge repair Portland wearers need most
Nose pad replacement — Swapping worn, cracked, or missing nose pads to restore comfort and prevent frames from slipping
Frame screw replacement — Replacing stripped or missing micro-screws to keep hinges and temples securely fastened
Frame re-soldering — Restoring broken metal joints and connection points with precision soldering for a durable, lasting bond
Temple tip replacement — Swapping cracked or worn temple tips to eliminate pinching and restore a comfortable, secure fit
End piece replacement — Replacing damaged end pieces where the temple connects to the front frame for a stable, lasting repair
Rimless frame drilling — Precision re-drilling of rimless frame mounting points to keep lenses secure without compromising the frame's structure
Cracked frame repair — Reinforcing and sealing hairline cracks in plastic and acetate frames before they spread into full breaks
Broken acetate frame repair — Rebuilding snapped or shattered acetate frames with seamless bonding that restores original strength and finish
Frame fitting and adjustment — Fine-tuning temple angle, nose pad position, and overall fit for all-day comfort
Alignment correction — Straightening crooked or twisted frames so they sit level and balanced on the face
Full lens replacement — See below for details on sunglass and prescription lens replacement in Portland
Cleaning & reconditioning — See below for details on our standalone and add-on cleaning and reconditioning service

Don't see your exact issue on this list? Send a photo anyway — our technicians routinely repair damage that retail optical counters call a lost cause.

Lens Replacement in Portland

We won't buff a scratch out of your lens — that distorts the optics — but we will put a new one in. Lens replacement runs alongside every frame repair we do for our Portland clients:

Sunglass lens replacement — including tinted and polarized options
Prescription lens replacement — available at select locations
Replacement for scratched, cracked, or clouded lenses
High-quality replacement lenses cut to match your frame's original fit and appearance

Lens replacement is quoted alongside your frame repair, so you get one firm price covering both instead of two separate bills.

Cleaning & Reconditioning in Portland

Beyond structural repair, we also offer full cleaning and reconditioning, available on its own or bundled with any frame repair:

Deep ultrasonic cleaning — clearing built-up oil, dust, and grime from hinges and hard-to-reach spots
Sanitizing — a thorough clean of the frame and nose pads
Tightening & minor hardware care — snugging loose screws and hinges while your frames are on the bench
Restoring shine — polishing away dullness and light surface buildup for a like-new look

Cleaning and reconditioning is priced separately, whether you send it in on its own or add it to a repair — you'll always get a firm price upfront.

Whatever number you're quoted online is the number you pay — no hidden add-ons later. We look over your photos, land on a fair price, and get started only once you give the go-ahead.

What We Don't Handle for Our Clients in Portland

To set clear expectations before you print out your free shipping label:

Scratch removal — buffing out scratches distorts the prescription lens surface. Scratched lenses must be completely replaced elsewhere.
Frames corroded beyond repair — metal frames left exposed to Portland's persistent rain and humidity for years can rust through so thoroughly that no weld can restore structural integrity.
Severely fatigued frames — plastic and metal frames repeatedly bent back into shape after being sat on or crushed in a bag pack can reach a point where the material has fatigued past what welding or straightening can fix.

Brands We Repair for Customers in Portland

Bring us just about any brand and our technicians can likely fix it: Ray-Ban, Oakley, Maui Jim, Persol, Oliver Peoples, Prada, Gucci, Versace, Silhouette, Tom Ford, Chanel, Bvlgari, Cazal, Serengeti, Safilo, and most other luxury, everyday, or vintage eyewear styles.

Don't see your specific designer above? Reach out anyway — we work on nearly every brand on the market.

Frequently Asked Questions From Our Portland Customers

Where can I get my broken glasses fixed in Portland?

Shops around downtown Portland can usually manage a routine eye exam or a quick adjustment, but structural frame welding is a different story entirely. Our mail-in service brings factory-grade laser repairs right to your door, with free shipping both ways.

Can you repair titanium frames for Portland customers?

Yes, titanium repairs are done entirely in-house. It takes a specialized, gas-shielded laser welding chamber to keep the metal from becoming brittle during the process — equipment standard optical counters across Portland don't carry.

How long does the mail-in process take from Portland?

Most repairs are completed and shipped back out the same business day they arrive at our Kirkland, Washington center. Since Portland sits just up the I-5 corridor from our facility, customers typically have their glasses back in well under a week factoring in free round-trip shipping.

My frame's hinge seized up after weeks of rain. Can you fix it?

Rusted and seized hinges from Portland's long wet season are repairs we see constantly. Dry off any visible moisture before mailing your frames in, and our technicians will take it from there.

Does a local jeweler in Portland do this type of frame welding?

We'd recommend against it. Jewelers typically use open-flame torches designed for gold and silver, which can warp or discolor delicate eyewear alloys. Our micro-lasers create a precise, permanent bond without damaging the frame's finish.

What is the average cost to fix a broken glasses frame in Portland?

Everyday brands generally run $40–$90, while luxury and designer frames land between $55–$120. You'll receive a firm, guaranteed quote based on your uploaded photos before your glasses ever ship to our bench.

Can I have my repaired frames shipped to my home, office, or dorm in Portland?

Absolutely. You choose the return address when you approve your quote online. Portland State University students, along with local professionals, often have their finished frames sent wherever's most convenient.

What happens if my designer glasses are out of warranty or a discontinued style?

That's exactly the kind of frame we specialize in saving. Retail stores tend to write off older styles once factory replacement parts stop being available. We don't need those parts — our technicians rebuild the original hardware with precision micro-lasers instead.

Where do I drop off my package in the Portland area?

Any local post office or standard mail carrier drop box works fine. Once your digital photo quote is approved, we'll email a prepaid shipping label — just box up your glasses securely, attach it, and hand the package to your carrier.

What if my frames have rusted through after being left out in the rain?

Unfortunately, metal frames left exposed to moisture for a long stretch can corrode all the way through the joint, and at that point no weld can restore the structure. We do our best to flag this from your submitted photos so you're not stuck mailing in a pair that can't be saved.
